How Slotbox Protects Your Data

A detailed look at what we collect, who processes it, how long we keep it and the rights you hold as a Canadian player.

Privacy at Slotbox

Last updated: September 10, 2026

This page explains, in plain terms, what personal data Slotbox collects, why we collect it, who we share it with for payments and account checks, and what rights you have over your own information as a player based in Canada.

What data we collect

When you register a Slotbox account we collect identity details such as your full name, date of birth, home address and email, which we use to confirm you meet the minimum age of 19 and to verify who you are. We also collect device and gameplay data, including your IP address, browser type, session length, game history and deposit or withdrawal activity. This is standard practice across regulated Canadian online gambling and is not unique to Slotbox.

During account verification (sometimes called KYC, or know-your-customer checks) we may ask for a government-issued photo ID and a proof-of-address document such as a utility bill. We only request these when needed to confirm identity, prevent fraud or process a larger withdrawal.

Why we collect it

  • To confirm you are 19 or older before allowing real-money play
  • To process Interac e-Transfer deposits, card payments and crypto transactions accurately
  • To detect unusual account activity, duplicate accounts or fraud
  • To personalise game recommendations and promotional offers
  • To meet record-keeping obligations tied to anti-money-laundering practices
  • To respond to support requests and resolve disputes

Third-party processors for payments

Slotbox does not store your full banking credentials or card numbers on its own servers. Interac e-Transfer deposits are handled through your own financial institution's e-Transfer system, so your online banking login never passes through Slotbox directly. Visa and Mastercard payments are routed through licensed payment processors that specialise in card transactions. Cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals in Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin are processed through blockchain payment gateways that convert crypto to your CAD balance.

Each processor only receives the transaction data it needs to complete a payment, such as amount, account reference and timestamp. They are contractually required to protect that data and are not permitted to use it for their own marketing.

How we store and secure your data

Player data is stored on encrypted servers with access restricted to staff who need it to do their jobs, such as support agents handling a specific ticket or compliance staff reviewing a verification request. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit, meaning information sent between your browser and our servers is scrambled against interception.

We retain account and transaction records for as long as your account is active, plus a further period after closure to meet standard record-keeping practices for financial and gambling transactions. After that period, data is deleted or anonymised unless we are required to keep it longer for a legal reason.

Your rights as a Canadian player

Canadian privacy expectations, generally guided by principles set out under federal private-sector privacy law, give you a set of rights over your own data. No single national regulator issues Slotbox's operating licence, but Canadian privacy norms still apply to how we handle your information. You can:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you and request a copy
  • Request correction of inaccurate or outdated details
  • Ask us to delete data we no longer need to retain for legal reasons
  • Withdraw consent for optional marketing communications at any time
  • Ask how your data has been shared with payment processors or verification partners

To exercise any of these rights, contact our support team through live chat or email, available 24/7 in English. We will confirm your identity before actioning a request, to make sure we are not handing your data to someone else.

Cookies and marketing

We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember your language and game preferences, and measure which promotions perform well. You can adjust cookie settings through your browser at any time, though disabling essential cookies may affect login and gameplay.
